This is our first blog since opening Bubbles Dive Centre. It’s been a long road getting here, made harder by some people telling lies about us in an attempt to stop us and easier by many who have supported us. When we first had the idea of creating Bubbles Dive Centre many people could not see where our business would come from but we knew creating the most caring Dive Centre in Gozo was something that Gozo needed and that there would be customers who wanted our unique offering. We’ve not been open for 3 weeks yet but you only have to drive by our centre to see how busy we are. Due to the regulations in Malta and Gozo we could not advertise or promote our Dive Centre until we actually got the licence to open so all of our business has come from passing trade so far.
We are very proud of what we have created, it has been a truly bumpy road but we knew what we was doing was right and the underhanded actions of others who were clearly worried about how successful we will be only increased our determination. We also should mention the many many Gozitans and Maltese that have helped us and given us support – everyone around us, the restaurants, the bars and the locals who have stopped by to wish us luck – thankyou.
Our commitment to improving the marine environment has already begun, we had our first Dive Against Debris day recently which was a huge success and which received great media coverage. Of course there are cynics about what we are trying to achieve but we are off doing it again this Saturday. Keeping the marine environment clean and raising awareness is an on-going commitment and not a once a year token effort. So if you are in the area come and join us – everything on the dive is free and is sponsored by very kind donations from local businesses. Our reputation is growing, we have been asked to speak at a number of events in the future, including the younger members of our community who are so crucial in making real change in traditional approaches.
